Bob Elliston was a lifelong farmer, his wife Charlene an elementary school teacher. They lived and worked in Ashland County and had no children. Following his wife's death, Bob created a Charlene Elliston Memorial Scholarship in 2008 at the $10,000 level to help Hillsdale High School students attend college and to forever remember his wife and her dedication to education. Upon his death in 2012, Bob gifted his farm and residual estate dollars to ACCF. The dollars from the sale of his farm, combined with the residual estate money, were added to the Charlene Elliston Scholarship Fund - to provide four individual $10,000 renewable scholarships to HHS graduates each and every year. Further, these dollars created a Robert and Charlene Elliston Community Grants Fund from which distribution dollars each year are unrestricted and allow ACCF's Grants Committee to react to the ever-changing needs in Ashland County.
Mr. Elliston spoke with us about his joy of "working the land" for more than 40 years. He most certainly "sowed the seeds during his lifetime so that future generations are now reaping the harvest of his gifts." We sincerely thank Mr. Elliston for caring and providing for his Ashland County community.
ACCF has engaged over 6,000 donors, and each has a unique and remarkable story.
